Italian footwear has a reputation for being the best and Rene Caovilla does his bit to uphold that reputation. He started out in 1950 and has since cobbled shoes for the couture houses of Valentino, Dior and Chanel. His ornate, bejewelled heels are displayed in this elaborate shop, decked out like an 18th century Venetian sitting room, complete with gold-leaf furniture and china lamps.
Williams Restoration undertook the restoration and conservation of the frontal façade decoration. This included removing all the existing, flaking paint using only hand tools being as sympathetic to the building as possible. Once complete we undertook the decoration using a bespoke matched Gold paints.
