3 The Square

About
3 The Square is situated in the heart of the historic town of Richmond Upon Thames in London. Since its construction, the increase in traffic over the past decades and due to its prominent positions in Richmond’s skyline the building had suffered from years of pollution and weathering, in turn a large section of the facade masonry had turned black with carbon staining and was deteriorating at a concerning rate from high winds and acid rain.
Scope of Work
Williams Restoration undertook the restoration and conservation of the external facades to 3 The Square in Richmond. This included extensive repairs to the existing stone work. Following years of ‘weathering’ the stone was crumbling and in need of restoration. Williams Restoration’s specialist stone team cut back the existing stone to a sound and solid surface and repairs in situ following the same designs and shapes as the original. Williams Restoration also undertook the rebuilding of the uppermost chimney which included the re-use of all existing bricks where possible. Laid in Lime mortars, the remaining facade was entirely cleaned by Williams Restoration using a ThermaTech, super heated steam cleaning machine.
